Our Institute's New Book

A new book resulting from many years of research conducted at the Institute will be published in the near future. The volume is titled: Puberty Rituals: What Is the Purpose of Male and Female Circumcision?

This will be the world's first synthetic overview of all research on pubertal (sexual maturity) rituals in relation to these types of rites occurring across all continents, and at the same time, it will be the first major publication on this subject in the Polish language. In addition to a systematic lecture on the issues related to this topic, the work also contains an original concept explaining the meaning and purposes served by sexual maturity rituals

The Paper in the Theory in Bioscience"

On January 30, 2023, another article by our collaborator, Dr. Krzysztof Mogielnicki, was published in the international scientific journal Theory in Biosciences (No. 142, pp. 67–85). It is titled "Wartime forced sex as a male mating strategy" and is available here.

The author analyzes the phenomenon of war among hominids, taking into account the genetic benefits gained by males through warfare in the natural environment. Based on chimpanzee behavior, an analytical model of the "primitive warrior's equilibrium" was examined, comparing the risks of a war expedition with the genetic gains from wartime rape—the "balance of life and death." The author concludes that resource-rich areas favor an increase in human population density, which affects group territoriality and promotes intergroup conflicts, and consequently, patriarchy. The roots of conventional patriarchal marriage are strongly linked to war—**"the right to land entails the right to women."**

Our News report: Nontypical Heterosexual Roles

The analysis of the results from the preliminary research on unconventional sexual roles among heterosexual men conducted at our Institute has been completed. Based on these findings, a publication in English has been prepared, titled: "Autogynephilia and inverted sex-partner roles in heterosexual men: A pilot survey report."

The results of this study indicate that the passivity-submissiveness complex appears to be a broader phenomenon. While almost all cases of autogynephilia (a man's sense of being female) involve passivity-submissiveness, the latter trait can also occur in individuals who are not autogynephiles yet remain heterosexual. This represents a category of individuals previously undescribed in the literature. Furthermore, the tendency to fulfill passive roles is a trait independent of an individual's sexual orientation.

A preprint of the publication is available via Open Source (Open Science) on the European portal Zenodo, link: [here].

Publication in the "Theory in Biosciences"

On March 13, 2020, an article by Institute collaborators Dr. Krzysztof Mogielnicki and Kathrine Pearl, MA, was published in the international journal Theory in Biosciences. It is titled "Hominid sexual nature." Link to the article: [here].

The authors identify psychosomatic evolutionary adaptations of hominids that lead to the maximization of reproductive success and form the basis for building the social structures in which hominids live.

Article on Our Research in the ADVOCATE

The renowned American weekly The ADVOCATE features a report on the research conducted at our Institute regarding sexual partner roles and its findings, which were published in the prestigious The Journal of Homosexuality. The article by Jack Flanagan was released on September 14, 2015, and is titled "Top and Bottom Are Positions, Not People."

The author references our publication and quotes its lead researcher, Jerzy A. Kowalski, MA, regarding the ideas that guided him during the research and the analysis of the results. Flanagan emphasizes the uniqueness of the scientific terminology proposed in the publication and its significance in improving the social perception of homosexuality. Our Paper in the "Journal of Homosexuality"

One of the world’s leading sexological scientific journals, The Journal of Homosexuality, has accepted for publication an article by our Institute’s researcher, Jerzy A. Kowalski, MA, titled "Sex-partner roles in homoerotic relations: an attempt of classification." This is the result of research on sexual partner roles in homoerotic relationships conducted at our Institute since 2008. The article appeared in Vol. 63 (1), 2016, pp. 87–102 (having been previously published on the journal's website); link: tutaj.

The author notes that while these issues were observed very early in human history (e.g., various roles performed during sex or bimodal polarization), science has only recently taken an interest in the subject. He proposed that all such roles be encompassed by the term Sex-Partner Roles (SPR)—replacing various other terms currently in use—and classified them according to an evolutionary ethological approach into appetitive and consummatory SPRs. Further details of this division were discussed, highlighting the utility of such a classifica
